I posted this in the M Squad thread but I'll post here too since it came up: I was reading the "north side 777" postings and the Racine police station came up, I found this: It shows a list of district stations, from 1943 and 1955. District #29 West Chicago 731 N Racine phone # MO 6-1702, notice districts 3,4.and 21 are "closed down" in the 1955 list. But # 29 is still a

Man am I disappointed, It started of kind of boring but as it progressed it got better and better. Especially the last two episodes, what a awesome show! It's BS Fox killed it. I think the Monday time slot was part of the problem, hopefully FX or TNT will pick it up.

Now that you mention it, ours had a 6" pipe that came from the roof down the side of the porch into the pit. I remember as kids we stood under the porch during a rain storm and you could hear the water gushing in.

Some of the ones we got from Mc Kinley were big, all I know is here in south LA they would not have lasted 2 seconds before someone stuck them in a pot of boiling water! BTW they call them craw fish down here.

We used to "fish" in the lagoon at Mc Kinley park when we were kids back in the early 80's. The only thing we caught were crayfish LOL, we used a small tree branch, some string and some raw meat from the BBQ or gum. We keep some as pets in my cousins fish tank, I did not even realize you ate them til I moved to Louisiana!

I'm not from that area, but I have spent time in Pilsen, Little Village and we used to go though N Lawndale to get to Brighton Park. So I'm interested, especially after reading your posts and your book I have gotten interested in the Czech/ Bohemian culture!

No, I had not seen or posted that on Flickr. Thanks for the link, I see it caught someone else attention, I think your right it may have to do with the census. I just found it odd. I've also found strange things on Google maps, they had an alley in street view, If I remember right it was near S. Millard.

Back in the 80's my Aunt and Uncle lived at 38th Pl and California, our route back home to Irving Park was to go up California to W. Fulton then to Sacramento Blvd to get around the tracks. I was retracing our route on Google maps to see how it has changed since then, I noticed a "street" named "1980 stat boundary" off of Fulton and Francisco. Upon further looking into it, it

That's a nice looking gray stone, but I seriously do not think they will get anywhere near 498,000 for it in that hood and with this economy.

Wow, That explains a memory I have of Pilsen, my aunt and uncle lived on 19th St and one of the buildings on the same block had a door that lead under the sidewalk. It also had a window like the ones you find in a bathroom, the type where the glass is distorted so you cannot see through. The door was aways locked but one day it was open, and being curious kids we went in. They used to store junk,

Thank you so much for posting these wonderful pics and taking the time to drive around to take them. Plus, the research you do, I have learned so much more of Chicago history since I joined FC than I did when I lived there! Truly a wonderful group of people here!

That's what I remember, late 70's early 80's I saw trains often. Here's a pic by Chris Lastovich posted on railpictures.net: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=172109&nseq=14 It was taken in 2007, that had to have been at the most western end.

Welcome to FC PK, that warehouse you leased, did you receive/ship freight? Or had the trains stopped running by then?

I have been trying to dig up more info, but have not had much luck. I did find on historic aerials that there was some type of warehouse or shop at Damen where the overpass is wide.
