PK, nice bit of work! I need to watch the movie, but wasn't her apartment the building right next to the small street parallel to the tracks? The location now appears to have a very old, small house there, which would have been there when the movie was filmed. What are your thoughts?

Adgorn, as you noted, some of the information is on this thread. But I think there is at least one other thread dedicated to the movie and some of the other information can be found there.

It's tough dating information based on a phone number. AT&T began to convert letter/number prefixes in Chicago in the late 1950s, but the project wasn't complete until the 1970s. Additionally, other phone companies converted at different dates, so the information is all over the map. One last thing. Non dial to dial conversion further complicates the issue. Not all central offices (Chicago

I did a quick check of Chicago Tribune archives, appears the AMA had a convention in Chicago in 1944. Others were held elsewhere.

Chipast, What does the listing show in the 1929 Polk Directory?

The 1929 Polk lists the florist name as Leo Verbauen, florist. It is listed as same in the 1937 Classified phone book. The 1941 phone book does not have a listing for Verbauen or Krismer florists. The 1950 classified phone book shows Krismer at the Lotus address, no listing for Verbauen. The 1960 classified phone book shows Krismer at the Lotus address. The 1967 phone book shows no Kr

It seems like this was discussed a few months ago. Do I recall there was some type of track in that area and part of Riverview was in there too?

A couple years ago we had a discussion about Stark's Warehouse and their various locations. One location in question was at 212 W. Madison, which seemed an unlikely place for a surplus store. I finally found a photo of the store. This 1965 shot is looking west down Madison from the Wells street L, you can see a store front sign, "surplus" which is probably the Starks location. 1965

Thanks for the information! I looked in that site but apparently didn't look far enough. It makes sense now, that building in the back right was original to the street, they put up the fake front church in front of it.

That is the then/now video I was talking about, a great video! I've looked at almost every Blues Brothers website I can find and didn't discover information about a false front. Can you send a link to the information? I guessed it was another location dropped into the scene.

I was looking at that great then/now video of some of the Blues Brothers filming locations and one scene baffles me. The Blues Brothers turn North onto Normal Avenue from 18th Street, and drive up to the church. In the movie the church appears to be at the end of this street/alley. Except, there is no church there and from Historic Aerials, there never was. It appears this was indeed a street/alle
