I've wondered if the tank in M Squad is the same one as in Northside 777. If one stands in front of the church on Noble and looks directly east, it lines up with where a tank may have been on Racine.

Richard, In the 1951 phone book, no Stachowskis on Wolcott. There are listings for Bruno, Frank, 2 Johns, Julian, 2 Marys, Stanley and Theresa. In the 1967 phone book, Daniel Stachowski, 5042 S. Wolcott, RE 7-9382

For about a month or two there has been a lister selling negatives on Ebay. Most of the negatives are of Chicago scenes. Several are related to the Grimes killings and in fact, two of the photos are of Patricia and Barbara's nude bodies lying in the ravine. One photo is shot facing west; one photo is shot facing east. I would post them, but they are very clear photos. Related, I'm not much for

I scanned a 1951 phone book. Lots of variations of Peterson, but none on 33rd.

The Lasalle Hotel parking garage, which was demolished about 5 years ago (it was at about 225 W. Washington) had three beautiful 1930s booths. I hope they found a nice home. Also, Bruna's, on Oakley used to have a 1950s booth at the entrance. Haven't been there in years to see if it is still there. I was fortunate to have seen two very early "single door" oak booths at the old Star Ho

In daytime B roll shots, he travels south on Clark in front of 800 N. Clark, which is the building on the corner of the opening (at that time, there was a Pixley & Ehlers Restaurant on the NW corner).

I was wondering how screen grabs of M Squad episodes are accomplished? Thanks for any tips. In watching enough of the M Squad episodes, I notice the opening sequence (not the first episodes) was filmed at Chicago and Clark. The cars travel west on Chicago then turn north on Clark. This corner was also used in some daytime B roll shots too. RM

Captain, Quite sure that scene is about 800 W. Chicago, maybe a bit east of Halsted. The two tall white buildings are the old Montgomery Ward buildings. Here is a present day... <iframe width="425" height="350" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&amp;source

There was a photo of a military/surplus type of store on Ebay recently but was IDd as Chicago Salvage. I am quite sure it was of Stark's warehouse as the caption said it was at 59th and Harlem. Here it is... <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/52922702@N03/4931785041/" title="59th&amp;harlem1955chicagosalvage by Rustymuscle, on Flickr"><img src="http://fa

A wonderful topic! Many years ago I collected and sold phone booths. The phone company would give them to a "junk" phone booth dealer in West Chicago who would sell the booths and parts. This is many years ago, but I was able to procure 1930s style booths from him for a case of Olympia beer. I would then sell the booths via the Chicago Tribune. The booths mostly seen today are the

One of my disappointments with M Squad is the location filming is pretty much B roll stuff. In fact, I've noticed a couple episodes (not back lot filming) where the "location" was somewhere around LA (the hills/mountains in the background were the giveaway). Not really complaining, but would have been nice to have seen the approach they took with the series, Naked City. On a side note

Captain, my apologies for not being able to offer the episode title of the location shot at Catalpa and Clark. The episode (going from memory here) is the one where in the beginning a guy in a drug store station wagon witnesses a shooting. The witness is followed and killed inside the drug store. The drug store is "Gordon's Drug" which was at 5501 N. Clark. A couple of very nice exter

I agree the show is somewhat weak, but it's tough to develop anything in 30 minutes. Most of my viewing pleasure (aside from seeing lots of stars in their first roles) is the footage of Chicago. As Captain mentioned, I find it quite valuable footage. BTW, while many scenes are of the near north side and the loop, there are instances of footage shot outside the loop and near north area. The far

Here's a then/now. The now photo is from the se bound lanes of the Kennedy in about the same position Superior would have come through. <iframe width="562" height="314" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&amp;source=embed&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp

Thanks for the advice Captain54. This pix is of the station on the NE corner of Racine and Superior. Note the Superior street sign. Go to Google street view at Racine and Chicago Avenue, the building in the background still stands. It also appears the building directly behind it is still standing as well (with the two points). For an approximate then/now view, drop the avatar directly south of

I'm quite surprised, but I actually found the location of the M Squad, dark, brick police station. It was (went down during the Kennedy construction) just south of Chicago Avenue on Racine, sitting on the North East corner of Superior and Racine. Couple clues to finding it... A. A wide shot showing a "Superior" Street sign. B. The large storage container sitting at the end of a

I am new to this list and M Squad. Have been enjoying trying to find some of the filming locations. The Division Packing House was at 1949 W. Division, the building is still there. There was a Kopper Kettle at 38 W. Randolph and a Pete's Steak house around the corner at 165 N. Dearborn. Now, would anyone happen to know where the M Squad police station was located? It is on a corner of W
