He Rich, Glad you hung in there. You and I knew some of the same people like Roger Casper who bought my cousins tavern in the 70's The old Town Club tavern and Roger changed it to the Hideaway. The Rebels hung out at your park (Cornell) and came to our park once in awhile (Oakley Playground). The good old days.

There was nothing like the Back of the Yards growing up. Lived at 50th & Oakley went to St Michaels at 48th & Damen. Played alot of 16in softball at all the playgrounds, Oakley, Hermitage, Strawhacker, Kostner. We took 3rd place in City in 56. Played the grammer school league at Cornell took 1st place in 58. I'm 70 and still enjoying the old memories.

I remember back in the 60's my buddy was selling plastic couch covers and we had to go for a fitting at 54th and state in one of the projects. That was an experience to say the least.

We did the garage roofs when we lived in the Back of the Yards, not many bungalows there, however, we became more daring when we got older. Ha! Ha!

We were good kids in the Back of the Yards, however raiding gardens were fun things to do.

How about jumping house roofs? It wasn't a game, however, it was a fun thing to do. When we moved to 55th and Komensky (Crawford) they started to build a entire neighborhood of single story bungalows. We were 15 year old at the time.
