When was Meigs Field torn down or is it still there and not in use. I left Chicago in 1991, however, growing up we would go down to Grant Park and/or the museums and always took the opportunity to watch the pipper cubs take off at Meigs.

The South side had many nice parks with pools like Gage Park was the best, Cornell was good, however, they had a rough bottom to their pool, Sherman Park was ok and McKinley was good. But we were all tough guys who didn't mind cutting our feet just to cool off. LOL

I worked at American Can on Western Ave for 38 years and made many coffee cans, however, Hixon's doesn't come to mind. Could be another can company. Look at the side seam area see if there is a logo like "CANCO"or three c's stacked over each other for Continental Can Co.or NAT"L CAN, FRUEUD CAN ETC.

Talking about Wrigley Field being one of the great old parks there was a triple AAA ball club down in Evansville Indiana called the Otters and they play at an old field called Bosse Field. It was smaller than Wrigley Field, however, it was setup almost the same. You may have seen it when in 1992 they filmed the movie "A league of their own" a 1943 womans team.
