Does anyone know if Sir Ref's Steak House & Lounge is still open. It was across the street from Lourdes High School on 55th & Komensky Northeast corner. I worked there all through high school & got 20% off on all food after hours on date night. Free food while you worked.

Every year St Michaels put on a school play, costumes and all. Of course everyone just about had to join. I wonder if schools do that now.

I loved the Texaco gas station commercials in the 50's. Every service staion attendant had a particular function to do; clean your windshield, check your wipers, check your oil, tires and I loved the song. Can anyone sing it?

Mikbaisle, That place was great! In the 60's I don't recall the name being Jackies, however, I remember they would take your order, never write it down, call out your food to the cooks and have it ready as you move down the line. I thought it was owned by a Greek family. We lived on 55th & Komensky. My folks loved the food especially after Dipsy Doodle closed on 56 & Pulaski. Do you re

Not sure what candy company was on 25th & Princeton, however, my mother worked at World's Finest Chocolate on 48th & Lawndale after my dad died in 1970. She worked there for almost 15 years and the owner asked her why she is retiring and he said that he still works and he was in his upper 80's. My Mom answered and said it's time and well I start work at 6:30 am and work to 3 or 4pm and you

I can't remember the funeral home, however, it was close to St Joesph Church on the southside and during the wake several of us went to this Polish tavern across the street and and the juke box was playing a Beatles record in Polish. Weird!!! I'm Polish and Slovak.

Hey Rich, Your talking about a building called the stroll and I remember doing the dance called the Stroll. Very popular back in the late 50's early 60's. My wife and I still love to dance, especially the JItter Bug. We belong to the Moose Club it's like a playground for seniors, dancing every week. We belong to the American Legion and sometimes they will hold a dance for special occasions.

Another good southside shopping district was 63rd Street from Pulaski to Halsted. Halsted had everything, shows, food, clothes, sports stores, etc. I wonder how it looks now.

I'll always remember Fort Dearborn and the fresh smell of wood burning. UGH It was always fun unless you had latrine duty and pouring in the lye.

It's funny that not all the stuff in dime stores were 10 cents, however, in todays Dollar Stores everything is a dollar except for greeting cards they are 2 for a dollar. Interesting..........

Our old phone number was Hemlock 4-2268 and it was a party line back in the 50's. Our next number was Ludlow 5- 8690. It's amazing that I remember our first two phone numbers and not the next 10+ numbers in my life. LOL

Hey Guys, Back to my saga of cars. After getting married and my wife owned a 73 Pinto and not loaded at all, it did have 4 wheels LOL, however, my wife thought my 78 T Bird was too big for her to drive and it was only 2drs she thought a 4 dr would be more practical so we traded the T Bird and bought a 4dr Chevy Impala, however, we did keep the Pinto and I drove it to work. WOOOOOW. I'll keep you
