After golfing at Evergreen Country Club we use to go to Rainbo. Great sherbert!

Dan Ryan Woods was one of our places to go in the 50's. Alot picnics, ball games, horse shoes etc.

In the 60's we hung around a small dive south of Motor World Hotel and restaurant on 53rd & Pulaski. They had pin ball machines. It was kind of a hide a way for us after bowling at Marzano's

Is this the joint that sold 13 cent square hamburgers like White Castle's?
I remember going home from St Michaels waiting for the bus at Damen & 55th which was called Garfield Blvd (correct?) and I would walk a block west to the hamburger joint. I remember it was next door to the gas station.

How about Shake N' Burger on Belmont near Lamon? I think there's a Dunkin' Donuts there now. Early 70s, small place. Saltiest fries I ever tasted in my life. I haven't found any info on it being a chain even though it had that look.

Jackies on 54th and Pulaski, there still open. There top hamberger is called the Big Baby.

That place was great! In the 60's I don't recall the name being Jackies, however, I remember they would take your order, never write it down, call out your food to the cooks and have it ready as you move down the line. I thought it was owned by a Greek family. We lived on 55th & Komensky. My folks loved the food especially after Dipsy Doodle closed on 56 & Pulaski.
Do you remember the Flying Saucer on the Westside of the street next to the corner gas station? We hung around with the owners son. Hamburgers didn't go over too big, especilly when Burger King opened up across the street. He turned his hamburger joint into a lounge.
