I think they were on southwest high way just west of Pulaski. There was a Chinees resturant ther after that I think but not sure, There are cars on that lot now. That would be Hometown. I thought I saw it on some old aeriel views but they were not that clear.

I seemed on every block or every other block on the southwest side there was a grocery or what we called a candy store. Midwest and Royal Blue were common. Also local taverns almost on every block.

I would like to take a climb up there and see if there are any traces of the tomb stones or the fence that was around it.

I have been in there often and the indian on top is still there but the cigar store I think is gone. Also the currencey exchange was next door before the library was built. I noticed the short bar stools and phone and I don't think they had normal hieght stools. I worked at Rex a few blocks north on 60th & Pulaski from 1965 till 1987 and some of us would stop at midgit's barafter work.

I remember that spot in the 50's when there was a small store that sold groceries and beer. I don't know being in Evergreen park how they sold beer. Evergreen was a dry town in the 50'and most of the folks were Dutch Reform Christians.

If you would climb up the hill behind 1000 bargans you would see the small cemetary about 20' X 20'with an black iron fence around it and a gate. Anyway that was in the 50's. I wonder if there is any trace of it left.

Those tracks have been gone for some time. They link 40th and Indiana to the lake front tracks. I'm surprised somebody noticed them.

That's most likely what it is but I am sure of the location on Archer. I asked my sister who is 82 and she varified it with me in that location. Now her husband was related to the ones who owned the yellow brick resturant on Archer Rd. I discovered it in the early 50's when we climed up the hill. I tried to spot it on Google but couldn't be sure on any trace of it. I may go up there when I can e

4712 s. Marshfield. This used to be a second hand shop in the 40's where I bought some old radio equipement. That was my old niehborhood so it must have been a fire station way before my time. I'm 73 years old and was raised in the Back of the Yards.
