The building is still there and it used to publish church hymnals also. I always wondered about that building as it has a french style.

I remember the Miller's store you talk about. I lived on 5007 s. may street in the 30' & early 40's I thought it was a Midwest Store. There was a barber shop on the corner of 51st and may.

I seems that the ones by the railroad tracts were built later all by the same builder. If they faced the tracts they would be harder to sell I would say.

The one on 56th and major is one of the oldest houses in the area. All the other houses were built in the late 50's or sixties when the streets were also paved in. That house I would say is from the 20's or 30's. I will look at the one on Kenton.

Yes I too was in the 1967 snow storm. All the corner stores were running out of food. I lived on 46th and Francisco and we where burried in and had to showel our way out of the house. I was running TV service calls around Chicago and Cicero avenue and it took me six hours to get home. That was one to remember.

It must be 330 W. Pershing. The building looks like it was a school. Has it ever been a school?. I looked it up in" Polk's 1928-29 chicago directory on line and it didn't show anything at that address.

Yes they work. I used to run TV service calls from the late 1950's and on. I used them many times to talk to the person in the apartement. I wonder if any body uses them today.

I rechecked and that address and picture is New Life Community Church. They have been there for several years. I know the people there for many years so it has been New Life for a long time now.

I live on the south side and do remember seeing these plants.I was like 12 years old at the time. What I would like to know is just where was the Tucker Plant and the Studebaker one like what would be the addresses. I saw where the building of Tucker is on the web still there as another buisness but they didn't say just where it was located.

Chrysler Villiage is still there with people living in it and still called Chrysler villiage. Thanks for the additional information. Is anything left of Chrysler? The baffles at ford City are still there to muff the sound of the Ford engines.

I am just surprised that nobody seems to know anything about it. I am 73 years old and I cant expect younger folks to remember some of the things I do. Like Camp Kiwanis where I spent a lot of time camping in winter and summer in the late 40's and early 50's. I will take a look to see if there are any traces of that plot when I get the chance to.

Later the hall of bargans was built in front of it. The graves would be behind the hall of bargans that isn't there anymore. The resturant you mentioned is the one I talked about. I will take a walk up there when I get time.

Bruce: Thanks for the reply and investigation but I do remember it very well. Do you know the yellow brick resturant on the south side of Archer avenue west of flavin road? It was about a few hundred feet west and up the hill south. I think when I get a chance I will go there and see if there are any traces of the family plot.
