My sister who is now 83 used to go there with here husband and took me along a few times. We both remember in the 50's what seemed like a family plot over or on top of the hill. It was a few graves with a black iron fence around it about 12' X 12' nothing paranormal or strnge just a small plot. My sister and I just talked about it and she still remembers it. It was nothing that stood out unles

We attempted to build a congregation there in the 70's but it didn't work out. What I was told then is that church was there in the 30's. It had a large pipe organ that needed service at that time. The one on the east side used to be a Polish church when the area was mostely Polish imigrants.

Years ago back in the 70's we had a ministry there. I think the house on the evergreen side housed the keeper of that building. His name was Mr. Carlson? Acroos the street was a Polish penticostal church.

Anybody know about a church on Evergreen and Damen? One brick church on the Northwest and the one across the street about three doors down. That was a Polish Penticostal church. I have an old bible that says 1347 N. Damen. Is there still a church there?

Correction: I was thinking of turning right off of Archer on Center St. There was a large building on your right and the garage or station on the corner about a block down. If you turned left at that intersection I think the road is Lincoln you would pass a few houses and a tavern and go over a bridge and on to Lawndale through a industrial area and end up on 47th. We used to go to a Swedish Smo

I am familiar with that area. When did the house come down? I remember seeing a large house there in the 50's and a small house near the road more like a shed. Turn right off of Archer and go down and turn left at a gas station or garage. Am I close?

I am an Oaklawnian. I went to that rink in the 50's and the dairy basket later on when I worked for A&G Radio on 9100 s. Cicero. I would get my lunch there at times.

Remember the brown elevated trains that had seats made with straw or wicker or something like that? Also street cars that you could stand on the outside step or hang on the back like we did going to school.

Not bachelors grove. I mentioned that to my 83year old sister just yesterday and she varified that it was up that hill behind the resturant where we ate often. They had family type meals served on the table to help yourself.
