According to a 1929 Polk's Directory. There was a florist at 2529 N. Lotus. When I seen the Google maps picture, It showed 3 quasi-modern apt bldgs. On the NETR maps, From 1930's-1962. It seemed as if it was a good-sized greenhouse. Between 1962-72, it seems to have disappeared. Can anyone tell me when that place closed down?.

Yes, I remember that large sign on the Kennedy Expressway, Actually erected in 1967. Plus I remember the Ma Brown sign which was a few yards south, Probably erected in the mid-1960's. And the Lambrecht cheesecake sign on the east wall, Below the huge sign. Towards W. Cortland. Also installed in the 1960's.

Yes, During the 1970's we had some Kohl's supermarkets in Chicagoland. They actually bought out Mayflower groceries. And yes, Kohl's spunoff some department stores. The Kohl enterprise is actually a Milwaukee-area based business.

Looks like it had several businesses long ago. Though I believe the cleaners still exists. But they also had a tavern, grocery store, etc. Looks like they had a few more busineses that were rarely known or uncommon down those side streets. Can anybody name a few that existed there in the past?.

Well, You could also blame the slipshod, thoughtless development of the area, Like many other once thriving areas. Which had some decent shops, places to eat, shows, etc. Which unfortunately many have seemingly vanished & turned into homoginized, bland, dull districts.

Lest we forget, Courtesy Motors (Ford) on Grand nr Central Park. With it's HUGE brown sign, Probably 20-40 ft tall. With the bulbous BIG "C" & bulbous lettering. Plus the FORD sign with embedded moving bulbs & orange neon surrounding the lettering. Which was removed between 1972-74, During the lousy energy crisis.

According to the CityNews property lookup. 1400 W.Noble (Standard Gas Station) was built in 1964. So therefore, The old church was apparently demolished that year. Now, It's an empty lot again.

No, Not St.Boniface down Chestnut nr Noble. Enlarge the picture, And find a direct pathway West down Chicago Av on the N side of the street. There's some building with a belfry or post-like tower above it. THAT building is LONG gone. Probably vanished in the mid-late 1960's to make way for a Standard Oil gas station.

Altough I do remember some place which also sold paraphenlia like that called Pax International Boutique which was on N.Austin, Just south of North Av in Oak Park. Ten they moved to Belmont nr Clark, Was there until that big fire in early 1978. They may have sold records as well.

The sign WAS illuminated "Santa Fe......All The Way" But in more modern times, Although still illuminated. But a more dull white plastic neon lighting. It did have the blue/white cross logo to the left side.

Until about 1980, 81 or so. WGN-TV Channel 9 would present a rather unusual late night program called the "All Night Show", Once I discovered that old episodes of the "Twilight Zone" were one of the programs featured for such. Does anybody else know of any other specific shows which were highlighted in that unusual program?.

Tad's Steaks is a pretty good memory, Even if it was a national franchise. But the chopped steak & garlic bread, Though not the crispy type were de-licious!!!. Hoe Kow at E.Lake was another great oriental restaurant. The egg rolls & The Chinese Vermicelli were scrumptious!!!.
