I used to love drinking that every once in a while. But Yoo-Hoo comes closet to it, I guess. THAT is also a classic in it's rite.

With the area & time changes. Things unfortunately don't take a turn for the better at many times, I guess. Somehow, That place looked like a comfort zone. For a snack of kaffeeklatch.

Yes, Zemsky's did replace the Leader Store on W.18th St. But is now a more homogenized Family Dollar store.

I remember that place, Especially the somewhat BW/ Red color print sales paper that was supplied each weekend by the Sun-Times or Tribune. Plus I remember the Advance Sales Co on N.Milwaukee, Which closed in 1975.

That place was a treasure & classically bewildering. Wasn't as open space-indoors. It was let's say cluttered aisle to aisle. Unlike most stores had a more open space ceiling atmosphere. This place was different from most other stores.

The Company on S.Kedzie closed in 1980.

It used to be a rather pleasant area, But with the realty/redevelopment behemoths, It didn't change for the better. It could give some futureshock.

Somebody I knew owned the Community on Chicago nr Paulina. But closed it in 1973. Then became a Manneheim furniture store until it had 2 fires in 1978. One in Jan or Feb-Which was small. But the one in Oct was big, Then was demolished a year later. Now it's a Walgreens. But actually don't know if that location will stand any longer. Since the Chicago Av shopping distict is molting little by little

The area did change over the years, As was to it's disavantage. However, It's slowly coming up again.

No, This building was at the SE corner of Chicago nr Paulina. And had a fire in either 1968 or 69. And was 2-4 stories high.

No, It was N of 3300 S.Wallace. It was on a side street. Not an arteial or quasi-arterial street. And it was on the NE corner.

That DOES bring back some memories. I probably think they were removed because of age, potential vandalism, budget problems, etc.

I don't think the place was at 102 S.Cicero. It was more like 5500-5900 S.

Wasn't there an Oldsmobile dealer on W.Ogden with a large neon sign displaying an airplane flying up????????. Midway????????. And a Ben Geller dealership too??????????.
