I've noticed the red brick structure on the NE corner of Fulton and Damen for many years, and it wasn't until recently that I actually took a close look at it. The structure looks like it goes back to the turn of the century, maybe even further. the stone etching at the top of the building reads "HERBERT HINCHLIFFE"... <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/d-j-c/406843129

Jimmy Stewart exits from the east exit...it was originally built to accomodate rail travelers coming to Dearborn Station.. the original plans called for the exits to one day become also entrances to accomodate passengers coming from the statio

the crazy weird thing about this old photo is that it's exactly the location that I used to frequent as a kid. My dad bought a bar/cocktail lounge at 71st a bit south of Jeffrey, which would have been right around the corner from where this photo was taken. you can't see it in the photo, but the IC Commuter Electric RR is running down the middle of 71st st. the IC was an alternative, back in t

As a kid, I lived very close to Globe Bowl....It disappeared about 10 yrs ago...the current location is some sort of flatbed storage and assembly facility, and the actual structure is gone.. the parking lot and building extended all the way from 50th Street to the RR tracks....the place was very very popular at one time.....I remember them laying the foundation sometime in the early 60's...

These were called "gasometers' or "gas holders".. Used to store gas for household use, and used mainly back in the day when coal was used to produce natural gas for the home..they were able to keep the gas at the same atmospheric pressure as the homes it was supplying, thus making it a pretty effective way to transport natural gas..it must have been pretty nerve wracking though,

that's pretty impressive .. I would have never gotten that location....I thank you what threw me was the view of a building that looks like the Merchandise Mart @ about 4:58, directly under Ballingers profile.... I'm quite sure that's the Mart..and who would have thought you could see the Mart from Chicago and Halsted...just proves how barren and spacious that area was back then

I just happened to be driving by there the other day and I noticed the building on the NE corner of VanBuren and Racine also has a clock tower-like structure on its easterly end...it looks entirely bricked up now, but I'm interested to find out if this might really be the one you're referring to...

I'm almost positive the Gordon's Drug store location was used in a couple of drug store related episodes...possibly "the Watchdog" (where a bad guy needs medicine for rabies) and "the Outsider" (where bad guys try to kill a lady by tainting her insulin) this Madison Ave skid row footage was used in a couple of episodes..there was a feature recently in New City about the chro
