The Chamber's Resturant was called Wild Fire back in the late 70's I believe. I can remember Zofia's Resturant in the mid 1970's. I ate there a few times and had lunch there with the family after my Mom's funeral. Then is was was called the Village Cafe and Pub back around 2007 and now Capone's Hideout. I think Zofia's moved to Arlington Heights on Rand Road. The building that the Chamber's is

Nothing for that address in the CCA's Office. That property most likely belongs to the railroad. It looks like that building use to be a train stop at one time. It like there was a platform there at one time as well. The viaduct has a date on it, 1929. You can see a building there on the old Historic Photos, aerial shot as far back as 1938. Thanks Jeff.

Here is some additional info I found on this building. This building was the Chicago Commons Building. http://wikimapia.org/14622751/The-Former-Chicago-Commons-Building This building was just boarded up last year. In the 2013 Google street view there is a sign up over the entrance on the corner. It looks like the building will be rehabbed for condos and townhomes along with some new constr

@justacruzr2, I can remember a lot of those shows on TV. The Lone Ranger and The Cisco Kid are on every morning on COZI TV. They also have Hopalong Cassidy, Lassie, The Real McCoys and a bunch of other older shows I use to watch as a kid. I seen Rin Tin Tin somewhere not long ago.

@ genes3@comcast.net, I can remember a bar called Edna's Place on Sheridan Road. I believe it was on the west side of the street around Columbia Ave. Didn't it have a big yellow sign with it's name on it?

If I am not mistaken Vern, these were installed back in the mid 1980's when Peterson Avenue was under a major road construction. @zorchvalve, the address you gave, 1000 N. LaSalle came up as 1000-14 N. LaSalle in the 1929 Polk directory. The occupants were Mutual Life Insurance Co. of NY and Chicago Clearing House. It appears that the buildings to the north and south of 1000 N. were all commercial tenants. No apartment buildings on the block.
