My favorites were the original MANZO at Irving Park Road, east of Kedzie and BIASETTI'S at Irving and Ashland by Lakeview High School. Manzo had a great special with bacon and Biasetti's was the first pizza I ever ate and they had the best pepperoni small and crispy.
There was a good family-run pizzeria near Irving and Austin. I can't remember the name. They must have done some good business from the Patio Theatre down the street. Later they became Giordano's
I was shocked to see that REGGIO'S on Western Avenue was replaced by condo's one day when I returned to the old neighborhood looking for it. I understand that they moved up to Milwaukee and Touhy or thereabouts in Niles, Ill?
The PIZZA COTTAGE in Roselle, IL had inconsistent pizza but a super outdoor garden and reasonable prices. They tore it down to overdevelop the block and now they can't lease the new spaces.

The new Reggio's is at Oakton and Milwaukee, and its been there for years. They just joined the general exodus out of the city; I wish I could move out too!

--I never had the pizza at Manzo but my wife and I went there several times a year when it was open. My favorite on the menu was the Mussels Marinara.

Biasettis sponsored a team in the All Star League at Faetz in the early 60's.
As I recall, there was always free pizza at the bar after we finished thanks

I remember several before I moved out west in 1973. Our neighborhood place was Onesti's on 71st street between Fairfield and California. Other places nearby were Dunn's on 67th & Damen, Chesdan's on Archer Ave. and Little Joes's on W. 63rd st.

Lately, I prefer [b]Franks 6506 W Belmont Ave.[/b] While I love deep dish .. this is my spot for Thin Crust. Its Old and been there as long as I remember ... but intimate. Usually nice jazz, Sinatra or Big Bands playing in the background and best of all Half Price Pizzas on Wednesday. Also excellent Meatball Sandwiches. NO I doni' work there, but visit once - twice a month.

on a whim just the other day I decided to take a drive past the original Giordano's pizzeria s-side addresses (what they were before franchizing in the early '80s), both on or near 63rd street. as far as I can tell the buildings aren't there anymore = no results. the closest contemporary Giordano's to their origins would then be the one @ 63rd & Cicero, not that that matters, probably they're unaware

Besides great pizza at Little Joe's they also had a great steak special. My cousin and I would go there a couples times a month in the late 60's.

Yes--I remember both Chesdan's on Archer Avenue (Archer Heights) and within a few blocks away was Vanucci's.

Geno's on 60th & Pulaski next to Dove Candies back in the 60's was one of our favorite and then the moved to 59th & Lawndale.

The only frozen pizza that is made from one of the best pizzarias back in the 60's is Home Run Inn, however, I never tried the frozen pizza. Back then they had 16 people working in the kitchen. It was a great place to take your date.

Still sold at the Jewel. Connie's also has a retail frozen pizza, although I've never tried it. I prefer getting it fresh at the restaurant, a bad habit I picked up as an engineering student at IIT.
