Back in the 70's, every Friday night there was drag racing on Forest Preserve Dr going west from Cumberland. This was of course weather permitting. I believe it was approximately 1/4 mile till the curve. We used to be partying in the woods and could hear them clearly. I also remember before they widened Forest Preserve Dr and added the curve, there would be cars that ended up in the Des Plaine

That is an excellent film! My wife and I watched it earlier and loved it. If you're even somewhat familiar with the areas, it's a must see.

I noticed recently they're building a new section of Irving Park Rd just east of York Rd. It looks like it'll curve down near the train tracks and eventually meet the existing roadway just east of Taft av. I saw a set of traffic signals on this section but have no idea what they might be for. I have searched for hours but can not find a map of this, does anyone know of one?

I go through this intersection on my way home from work and have a question. They finally built an overpass for the railroad, anyone familiar with this intersection knows it's long overdue. The thing I don't understand is I haven't seen the railroad using it. My brother told me they don't use it because it's too steep for the freight trains to climb. Is this true?

Didn't he own a farm in the Burr Ridge area? My uncle worked for Denemark Cadillac and he was keeping an eye on the farm till it sold. I vaglely remember a big barn for horses. This would have been late 60's.

Around 1967 or so, my father took me to some tropical fish auctions somewhere on Elston av. I looked on Google street view and I think the building was at Elston & Kennicott. This is between Montrose & Lawrence, I seem to remember it being some sort of ethnic hall. I remember we went in the side door which was on the side street and there was a small auditorium type thing inside. These auc

I was looking for the Bertrand Goldberg homes that were supposed to have been built in Maywood. I didn't find them but I found these instead. They are on the corner of Legion & Orchard, a block east of 1st av and a block south of Madison. They face away from the street facing the walkway between them, there are 2 rows of 3. According to the real estate listing, these houses are 400 sq ft altho

Thanks again for the map, I did a Google street view and was able to take a peek at one. I'll be driving by very soon. I got interested in this as my brother lives in a very small house in Stone Park. I was wondering if his was one of these homes but his is even smaller. His has one bedroom and is listed at 544 sq ft. I guess I'm wrong though, I did some research and it says his house was built in

Can anyone tell me where these homes are located? I did some searching and a home at 1523 N 23rd av claimed to be one of these. I drove by today and it's a typical 50's brick ranch. Since the tour is sold out, maybe someone can enlighten me? Thanks!

I remember Bob-O-Rinos, great sub sandwiches! It was at Belmont & Pontiac, right before Cumberland. Bob-O's is still on Irving park amd BTW has great beefs. Ther were featured on Channel 7 a few months back. The wife and I went there and the beefs were excellent!

I have lived in the Dunning area my entire life and cannot place this beef stand. Are you sure it was on the south side of the street?

Does anyone remember a weatherman who would either tear away part of the background or "paint" it away and it would show pictures and/or video? This would have been late 60's, maybe early 70's? Thanks!

There was an Aladdin's Castle at the HIP too. There was an arcade at Harlem & Foster in the shopping center, I can't remember the name. This was back in the late 70's and early 80's. There was one on Western just north of Belmont that always had the newest pinball games. I believe that was because of the Bally factory that was nearby.

There are still a few left near where I live. (Belmont Heights) One is on Grand av in River Grove, just east of the river. Another is in Franklin Park at Pacific & Ruby. My brother in law rented the River Grove one a few years ago for a family thing.

If it's in the side or back, it's a catch basin. This is basically a very large grease trap. The "mustard yellow-black play-dough looking stuff" stuff was big chunks of grease. The grease is supposed to settle to the bottom and the rest flows to the sewer in the street. I remember years ago there was a guy who would go door to door offering to clean it out. If it's in the front yard,

What's the story on the street names around Golf & Elmhurst rd in Mt. Prospect? I'm referring to some such as: Hi-Lusi av, We-Go Trail, Na Wa Ta av, etc.... Are these Indian names or what?
