I think Kchi meant "neighborhood decline" in that some neighborhoods completely disappeared or were never the same again (Little Italy comes to mind with the expressway and university construction). My grandparents lost their house to the Kennedy. I always forget the exact streets...something I should know.

I have family in the burbs, so I watched some of the filming. They filmed in towns like West Dundee and Geneva. Paul Newman's house was in Evanston. Tom Hanks house was an old farm house in Barrington Hills, specifically painted for the movie. I don't think Perdition exists, just a film creation.

Thanks for that info, especially the addresses from the building permit index. I know for a fact that he did a few houses in the western suburbs. I was interested to know of anything else he might have worked on.

Thanks for answering my question. I don't really get around there too often so I wasn't sure if it still existed or not.

Anyone heard of or know anything about architect Howard Putnam Sturges? In 1911, his architectural firm was listed at 605 in the Railway Exchange Building. Do any of his buildings survive? Nothing comes up in an internet search.

At my architecture related job, a question came up regarding a building that used to exist at Van Buren & Racine. Supposedly it had a clock tower. I took an interest into finding info about this building but there doesn't seem to be anything out there. Anyone know?

I was wondering if anyone knew the history of the house at 1430 W, Berwyn? It's the house with the caryatids at the top. There are conflicting dates regarding the construction. Also, who was the original owner or client?

What about the HUB Roller Rink that was down the street at Harlem and Wilson? It's sad how much of that area has changed.
