Does nayone remember who owned this place?. It was located near 22nd & Michigan.

Nathan "Nate" Batt, age 93, of Northbrook, owned the famous Mama Batt's Restaurant; beloved husband for 68 years of the late Rebecca nee Alhalel; loving father of Frankie (late Richard) Sabul, Sheila Greene and Harry (Deborah Stevens) Batt; adored grandpa of Wendy (Max) Mintzer, Scott Sabul, Tammy (Steve) Waples, Debbie (Steve) Popkin, Jonathan Palmer, Jaime Nachbar and Renee Greene; proudest "Papou" of 11 great grandchildren; cherished brother of Sam (Pearl) Batt, Annabelle (late Herman) Turchik and the late Estelle (late Bill) Leventhal; treasured uncle, great uncle and friend of many. These past five years, Nate was lovingly cared for by Edgar. Service Friday, 11 a.m. at Congregation Beth Shalom, 3433 Walters Ave., Northbrook, IL 60062. Interment Rosemont Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Congregation Beth Shalom. Info

For those working in the tradeshow business at McCormick Place, Batt's was very popular. Not so popular, at least with the tradeshow crowd was Helen Maebelle's (sp) Soul Queen Cafe'. Memory serves, It was east of Batt's just where 22nd St. turned south before heading east over the Outer Drive.

Went there once in the early '60s before a Sox night game, when the games started at 8. Food wasn't so great; never made it back.
