there is sidewalk separating the steps from the curb, but your right, it doesn't look like much clearance. I had a discussion once about this area with a relative who was very familiar with the area back in the day, and he said that way back when, you hardly saw a car a Grand Ave. Not much traffic. He said that often during the winter, the trucks would clear the streets for the streetcars and just push the snow off to the side, leaving the streets impassible for cars. So one possible explanation for the tight entrance to the church might be that,for most of the churches existence, there weren't many cars going by so it didnt matter
