Hal, I stopped doing this. When I am out trying to buy these for my collection WAY to many people are saying "there's a site on the internet where some guy lists the price for every one of these that sells and I want a lot of money because of that!" Sorry, I'm not gonna shoot myself in the foot anymore.
I recently purchased a photo of the Chicago Park district sign shop showing extruded brown and white signs being made in 1956.These don't seem to appear on EBAY for sale, and I suspect they were recycled in the 70's and just had the green reflective vinyl put on them.
Also someone sent me a photo of a 1930's hollow yellow street sign - I believe they also made them in white and black.

BTW, CDOT employees get a sign with their name on it when they retire. They used to use the brown Park District background, but the latest one I saw at a former cowrker's retirement luncheon used the green film.
I was actually wondering if your links had had any effect on the prices. Great service, but not without its "price"...pardon the pun. lol
It's always a bit dangerous when you show interest in collectibles. In my experience, more interest makes the seller think they can up the asking price. Ugh.

It is interesting to note the EBAY currently has 3 Chicago vintage signs up for sale at incredible prices. Perhaps Berwyn Frank is correct in his analysis. Too bad, this was a valued service.

What color was the Chicago street signs in 1980? This would be like the street Balmoral and in the middle of the neighborhood. Were they green with white lettering?
I think i found more yellow street signs. It is on a small street lamp on the intersection of Avondale and Pulaski where there is a small building with a small parking lot. It is to the right of pulaski when you head north right before avondale.
Here is the link for where it is since i can't upload the picture on here using street view on google maps.

As it turns out, these signs on Pulaski are old Chicago Street signs, they are just overpainted with advertising. The attached photos clearly show the signs mounting brackets and the bent edges of original yellow Chicago street signs. Of course, they ar mounted on a private Pole (pun intended) and are not in their original location.
