My pals and I used to bowl quite a bit in high school (late 80s-early 90s). We weren't very good but it gave us an excuse to get out of the house during winter.
We hit Turner Lanes a lot, and a place called Bieg's Bowl, an upstairs alley (like Lincoln Square Lanes) that has since burned down, I think. There was Sim's and another tiny alley both in Des Plaines, Habetler on Northwest Highway, a place on Belmont near Kimball (can't remember the name) and if we were feeling adventurous we'd go to the alley in Marina City before they remodeled all the cool out of it.

Does anyone remember a very small bowling alley on south Pulaski Rd also known as Crawford. It was in a store front building possibly between 13th and 15th on Pulaski.
The Playdium was ats 2625 N. Clark. We lived two blocks away on Hampden Ct. and bowled there after getting married in 1973. It was razed shortly therefter and replaced by an ugly high-rise.
My cousins bowled in South Shore either at Bryn Mawr Bowl on 71st or at Strikes and Spares on 75th.

There used to be a bowling alley in the basement of Five Holy Martyrs School at about 4300 S. Francisco. There were about 10 lanes. It closed sometime in the late 50s.
I remember when they televised bowling. That was a very popular passtime in the 50's. There were bowling allies all over. Anybody know about the one on 4801 s. Honore above the tavern. I think it had two lanes.
I know G & L Bowl was called the "Concrete Jungle" in the 70's/80's. It was a grayish cement color. If anyone has any pictures of G & L Bowl or anything related to the Chicago and Pulaski Ave. area please let me know.

I don't know the name of the alley at that location, but I do remember "Whispering Joe Wilson" commenting on the televised bowling competitions.
We used to bowl at Gage Park Lanes, in the early 50's, at 57th and Western. The building is still there and for years has been the office for succesive cable companies, currently Comcast.

There used to be televised bowling at Ridge Bowl on Ridge Ave. between Clark Street and Peterson. I lived right near there and remember seeing the TV trucks parked nearby on television days.
This is a partial list of bowling centers in Chicago that have closed.
