Regarding parking, the Belmont-Central Chamber of Commerce owns and maintains a small parking garage, just south of Belmont on the west side of Central, that provides free parking. That area is still thriving.

The tanks with the checkerboard markings were actually piston holders. There was a large piston inside that worked like the floating tank, and the seal was maintained by oil pumped to the seals around the piston.

With one exception, the brown cars were all wooden l cars. That one exception was a wood car repainted in the Mercury Green, Croydon Cream and Swamp Holley Orange paint scheme used on the 6000's. It even had a single onboard headlight installed at each end, similar to the early 6000's (just no headlight under the left-hand window), right below the motorman's window. I was looking at the Trolley Dodger recently, and there was an item about CSL's Peter Witt cars, the Sedans. It's too bad they didn't save any for future posterity.

Yeah, look at those sidewalks around the base of the building. I'll bet they were no more than 8 feet wide, if that. And the building looks like it has load bearing masonry walls, so they couldn't have cut the sidewalks through the building like what you see on Congress Street downtown. Too bad, as it was a classy looking building.
