I knew a family with 9 kids, and they had a 2-bedroom bungalow. They finished the attic, and all the girls had the front end, dormitory-style, with all but the oldest of the boys in the back. The oldest son got the downstairs bedroom in back,and his parents got the front one. Father was of German background, mother Italian, and Catholics.
