So for the past couple of weeks, they have been tearing up Division St from Roughly Cicero to Kedzie and repaving it nice and smooth. I have noticed ina few locations where the old brick is showing through and decent evidence of the rails that the trolleys used to roll on. I think you can still spot it between Cicero and Pulaski, but also I have seen a spot on Division just west of Cicero between

And another on Erie. They are all similar as a parking lot with a low concrete wall all around. Safety and security? Old building shell?

One thing I have noticed as I drive up and down Cicero Ave, are the parking lots that have that low concrete wall all around the open spot. And these are just here and there. One is on Cicero and Waveland. Another on Superior and Cicero. Another on Huron. Does anyone know why this is like this along Cicero mostly, than other streets? Ive been meaning to ask this a while.

About a month ago, I was driving up Kimball, and saw on the Bloomingdale line, a Metra train backing up. Mind you, I was not seeing things. I rolled past Kimball, and must have gone past Kedzie. A few moments later, while driving up Central Park, I looked in the rearview and watched it roll by again. I was quite surprised and a little shocked, especially since I thought they were tearing up the

Does anyone here know of anybody that took a picture inside the gated section of the kenwood line here: It used to be gated, but now has a wooden barricade over the entry.

business 7007 where can i find a free map that depicts the railroad row ownerships? Also, I would think that it is a similar situation to the abandoned row on the northside of Chicago that goes through the Labaugh Woods. They are abandoned.

so davy7 who do i contact? Should i continue with going to alderman's office or should i just say to hell with it and sneak up? The worst part is getting up there easily and the best way would be to use a folding ladder. Thats the hard part, setting it up scurrying up and then pulling it up behind us without anyone noticing!

I know the risks, but hey, this isn't the first time I've gone exploring! Plus it is not like I'm just going to walk in without any precautions or safety measures. I may stop by the Ward office as well, and have a face to face. Who knows?

Oh come on guys and gals, what about BluesBrothers? I think it is the quintessential film from Chicago! Another is of course The Fugitive! The Polish lady that takes in Ford while he is hiding out was my mother's make up artist! I remember going to her house many many years ago as a kid! I think that was the house I went to as well when my mom was getting her face done up.

i would do it covertly, but its gonna be kinda hard setting up a ladder and running it up quick without being seen or attracting attention.n The lowest points are on the edges where the viaducts used to be. So that is why im trying the diplomatic route, but if not, I'l just have to do an early bird before dawn run and be out of sight. I have a folding ladder that should extend to 10 ft, which sh

And for posterity's sake, I am not some yahoo that wants to vandalize, steal, or act like an idiot and get hurt trying to do this. Last thing I want to do is to ruin a chance to explore something that few if any have seen in over 50 years and give urban explorers another black eye. Is there a way to explain to the alderman that I will take full responsibility for my actions, and wave all right

I went for a ride this weekend to get a feel of the land, and got a good idea of the heights of the embankments and the look of things. I noticed a bricked tunnel opening on the south side of the Vincennes station area, and I don't know if it was another opening for the stations or what. also I am considering writing or going in person to the Alderman's office and asking for some sort of perm

Im thinking of doing a photo-recon first sometime soon, just to get an idea of where would there be good points to look at and where the stations are located.

@QlassiQue That would be great to read all the "what if?" projects that could have been done for Chicago. It makes me wonder just what cool things we missed out on, or convienent things, or just wacky things. I hope there is more info on the CTA expansion plans during the 40s about extending the now "Blue Line" subway down Belmont Ave. to Oak Park Ave. Or other ambit

Why are there so many RR tracks all over the streets and sidewalks around Cermak and Halsted? I got curious after checking out the picture from the flickr gallery. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mercer52/8500674649/in/pool-898567@N25

Oh yeah! It would be tough to move them, if they havent been already. That would be something if its possible to get inside. Some people want to vandalize things like this, or cause trouble. Me? I want to explore and discover something awesome and satisfy my curiosity!
