I know all the usual favorites (Deep Dish Pizza, Italian beef...), but what are your favorite Off the radar, only in Chicago dishes/desserts/drinks? Any dishes/desserts/drinks that are no longer around?

I'm looking for info on my grandma's older sister, Anna Duch. Allegedly she was a "torch singer" who sang under the name Myra Harms. Born about 1915 in Chicago. She left home at about 19 years old never to be seen again.

How did people light their homes in Chicago in the 1800's??? Gas lighting for the rich?? Lanterns for the poor? Would love to see some examples of typical Chicago light fixtures/lanterns. Can anyone point me to a resource on this?

I'm looking to find Chicago stores/boutiques that are still in operation today and were 50+ years ago...I'm thinking of smaller stores. Does anyone have a beloved Chicago store that is still a favorite after years and years?
