Growing up on the North Shore in the 1960s, we would often go bowling at Sportsman's Country Club in Northbtook, followed by supper in the restaurant. I remember seeing Chicken In The Rough on the printed menu, complete with the duffer rooster. I always had the burger, though.

In the Sulzer Library on Lincoln at Sunnyside, there is a terra cotta face of Abraham Lincoln, which used to adorn the facade of the building there.

There was a Golden Bear restaurant in Deerfield, on Lake Cook Road near Waukegan Road. Very popular with all us High School students back in the 1970s. "It's a honey of a place, where food is fun".

In Edgewater, at Bryn Mawr and Glenwood, there is an apartment building with a cornerstone that reads "Bryn Mawr" and something that has been filled in with cement years ago. If you look closely, you can see it said "Southport Ave.", Southport and Glenwood both 1400 W.
