Too bad work got in the way, Artista. I read a bit more about Ralph today. He's quite the interesting person.

I attended the NW Chicago Historical Society meeting last night at Oriole Park. Forgottenchicago was mentioned a few times and I think I shook hands with some of the people responsible for this site. Several interesting stories were shared, especially by Ralph who runs a canoe shop at 4019 N. Naragansett. The Society has a great web site at: nwchicagohistory.org I learned a lot. Than

Had a Green River earlier this week. Jewel was selling it, probably the "green" for the upcoming St. Pat day. And I agree with bwalsh, didn't taste the same. There is a 50s themed eatery nearby that has Green River year round. They also have Riverview memorabilia hanging on the wall.

I remember the straw or wicker seats when I was a wee lad. I also remember chewing on the stuff on the top of the seat in from of me for some reason. I recall my Mom putting a stop to that pronto.

Saw the word Starks and instantly remembered the place on Harlem after many many years. Amazing how the mind works. I remember my brother and I getting helmet liners. Another memory from long ago.

Went to several Bulls games there before they moved to the Chicago Stadium. I graduated from high school at the Amphitheater - De La Salle. Auto and Outdoor Shows come to mind.

I remember the dog pound. Also remember a place close by we kids called 7 hills. Maybe the same place called "hobo hills" by an earlier poster? This would have been in the late 50s. It was a bunch of dirt hills. Have no idea who made them or why. I recall one of the hills was called suicide, the others were more rolling. Great place to spend some time with friends on our Schwinn b

Yesterday we walked on Division from Levitt to a bit past Damen. Noticed that the sidewalks were about 3 times the width I remember. Anyone here know why? Tia, Dave...

I remember seeing Blood Sweat and Tears at Mr. Kelly's (or was it the London House?) in the early 70s. Small club for what was then a very popular group.

I too remember the Amlings haunted house on North Ave. I'd guess back in the 50s and 60s. The gorilla in the cage that reached out to grab you got me the most. I think my brother and I tried to get him to take our sister. ;-) Never worked.
