You could take your old light bulbs back to the commonwealth edison store near you and exchange for new ones. I'm not sure if there was a charge for them or not,

RJ, I think that the steel pennies were only distributed in 1943. As I remember, someone told me that they made about a half dozen of the '43 pennies in copper.

Rusty, I'm looking for the address of the Montaltos on Clark near North Ave. They lived on the east side of the street and I believe in the 1400 or 1500 block. Any help would be appreciated.

Two of my aunts lived on Orchard and their backyard emptied out onto Pearl Court. Photos that I have show a line of backyards on the Orchard side and views of Webster from north Orchard. And Oz park doesn't do anything for me either.

So many of the buildings were torn down that it almost seems a crime. My entire street was leveled. I lived on Vine street between North Ave. and Willow. Chuck, if you have other pictures of Burling and Orchard at Webster, I would sure appreciate seeing them.

Hi Gomba, I guess I was lucky enough to stay in one school. The "Y" was where we would play games, swim and just hangout. Do you remember Deblois tennis courts on Sheffield and Fullerton. We used to ice skate there in winter. Some of that neighborhood is still the same. I know that on Freemont the houses that you see close to the street were the secondary houses of the property owners. T

Jim, I think that there was a lumber yard on Eugenie across from Krema Trucking. On North Ave., just west of Vine street there were three butcher shops that I remember. Two were between Vine and Orchard on the north side of the street, and yes they did have sawdust on the floor. There was another on the northwest corner of North Ave. and Orchard that took up two store fronts. If you wanted fresh c

I didn't know any of the other people you mentioned. HJ and I used to go to the North ave./ Larabee YMCA. Ilost touch with him when I left the neighborhood, but found him again a couple of years ago. He had been an executive for a company in Minnesota. We met in 2010 at the old Lincoln Park boathouse.

gomba306, Henrys last name was Prevot and he lived on Orchard just south of Armitage. As I remember , the hot dog stand was on the southeast corner of Dickens and Halsted. I used to go to St. James on the corner of Freemont and Dickens. Oh, and by the way, Henry is retired and splits his time between Arizona and Florida/
