The Harlem Irving plaza had 2 "dime stores", W.T.Grant and Woolworths. Both had "restaurant counters" where we'd buy banana splits, hot dogs, etc. Also, we'd buy all the latest 45s,albums, and in 1964, they had an entire aisle of Beatles stuff. I bought my pet turtles, hamsters, and goldfish there as well.

Yep, you got it. Are you looking to re-shoot it, or are you just curious?

Thanks, I've been trying to figure this out! BTW, I've found that I can "attach" a pic, but how could I have it show in the post itself?

Moctezuma, where are you looking to go? Do you have an idea of what/where you want to shoot?

Yes, Aristas pic says Belmont, but I still say it's at Irving. One telling clue is that ghidorahs pic shows a fire hydrant,Aristas does not. Also, the trim on the top of the building seems different on both, and ghids pic shows a yellow sign to the right which I recall as being a long standing Chop Suey joint. I'm going to be in the area this week and will confirm, but either way, trying to track d

I've always been interested in the west Washington Park neighborhood, mentioned extensivly in James T.Farrell's "Studs Lonigan" and his Danny O'Neill pentalogy. Once a thriving middle class working mans area, now a desolate hell hole.

I'm pretty sure this is the NE corner of Irving and narragansett. This place changes around every 2-3 years with a new owner. I'm pretty positive of the location.

Garden on a Bun was on the west side of Harlem about a half block north of Belmont. They used to put lettuce and other stuff on the dogs and they were great. Actually, it was where Taco Burrito King is now. Hey, here's one, remember the little stand on Belmont 1 block west of harlem called "like young"? They had the BEST stoner food!! They eventually moved to about a half block east of
