Hey Grey' the photo of the School st side entrance way has an accidental artistic value to it. The colors and balance~very cool. When i drove past it I thought it such a shame to see it painted over like that but at least there isn't degenerate graffiti.

My gosh 222, i share the same enjoyments as you do in photo comparisons. Thanks so much for the great Google shot. I did go to Google maps to view the same intersection but you went a step further. How do you save the image from Google? By the way, i will be visiting the bank at Austin and Madison as BerwynFrank suggested. I cant get that new digital camera soon enough,,lol.

Just spotted this topic.. very interesting read and great pic Lazer. to Berwyn Frank,,can you possibly scan and post your postcard for viewing here? Also,,i drove thru Berwyn yesterday on 22nd from Austin to Cicero. I always LOVED the classic architecture through out the town. Especially the fantastic bungalows. Berwyn has some of the best examples of brick bungalows i have ever seen.

Hi Sheekaago (maybe the best user name here..lol) No problem if you'd like to get involved. I live on Natchez next door to the Galewood Metra. I was thinking of taking shots from Grand ave passing the Brickyard up to Diversey. Then to shoot north of Diversey of 'what use to be' for instance the residential area that use to be 'Kimball candy co' etc etc. all the way up to the Dunning spot. Another

Hi Vern and thanks for the input. I forgot to mention that the Jefferson Ice co. site that you mentioned on Natchez(now under a different name) is what inspired me to begin this topic. LoL I live right down the street from that Ice Co. I recently walked passed it one morning and it spurred fond old memories of the one from my childhood on Pulaski. The whole street of Natchez, from Grand ave to the

Also i would love to see this building restored. It is losing its brickwork/falling apart on the Narragansett side. I fear that they will raze it one day.

Ive got another topic for all.. Growing up in our neighborhood my parents would send us out to purchase ice from the Jefferson Ice Co. vending machine. It was on the east side of Pulaski just south of Le Moyne st. If i remember correctly it was huge(for a kid) and yellow. After putting coinage into the slot it would distribute bagged ice at the bottom dispenser. Does anyone here have photos of

Just came across this old posting. I love these 'mundane' topics in regards to our city. At the house i grew up , our neighbor had one of these concrete garbage bins. Approx the same size as the one pictured. He also had the city issued drums of course so he would throw all his old newspapers in the bin for incineration.

Hi Crow' the ComEd/CTA service shop for the electric streetcars is an excellent possibility. 222 , i have tried to check the address 6405 w School st. at the Newschicago site but to no avail. Could you give it a shot? Is it possible that that address is now defunct? One more thing, where exactly do you see the old tracks in re to the Dunning site?
