The Colony Theater was our neighborhood movie theater, when I lived on 58th, and Rockwell. Back in 1975, one rainy Saturday night, we drove through Marquette Park, and found it empty,,,usually full of guys and girls, from all the local high schools...well we took a ride to the colony and found it full. of course a few cans of beer were snuck in. Always a good place to go.

Was that beach called Rainbow beach, our Dad and Mom would bring us there on Sundays, C T A bus, down 79th.St. I remember the routy teenagers on the back of the bus on the way home. They seemed cool,we were only kids, but they were highschool guys and girls,This was around 1966, tune in your transistor radio and head to the beach.

You guys remember 63rd, and Damen, Animal Wonderland. Looked like an old corner gas station, but it was full of stuffed animals. We never went in there , i think they may have sold fireworks in the summer, before the forth. Just the legal city stuff, snakes and sparklers.

Mon Wed. and Fri. Boys swim Ridge Park. indoor pool, Tue. thur. and Sat. Gage Park pool. We would take the bus to ridge. Funny thing I remember,if you forgot your towel and swimming trunks on the bus,you could go down to the bus barn at the end of the line, and reclaim it. Now days we"d write them off and buy new ones.That was our summer entertainment back then.

CURLYS fUNERAL hOME,new location is in Chicago Ridge, on 111th. St. We lived on 79th. and Elizabeth. I believe that Curlys was on 79t.st, next to Dressels bakery. This was back in 1967.We lived in the first house,behind the Bulkos gas station. Does anybody remember this corner? Back to Curlys, I here their doing good, people are dieing to get in.

yes i remember that shop on 55th. st. they sold pool tables too. We would bum around Ford City Mall, they had several record shops. In 1973 ,recods were still selling,but 8 track tapes were being sold also.

Anybody like to play table hockey? nothing fancy, just the old game you would play on your kitchen table. Five players and a goilie. This game was popular in the sixties, but I have checked back as far as the forties. The players were controled by metal rods under the deck,movement was limited,but once you polished up your skill you were ready to take on any challenger.

Just came across a old movie,the Singing Nun. What memories this movie can bing back.It came out in 1966, and the nuns at St Marys of Mt. Carmel loved it. The sound track of the movie became part of our music class. We would listen to a album on a phonograph. We all learned to sing along, some nuns could sing pretty good.

Anybody remember listening to record albums with your friends,After Christmas. We would listen to whatever albums,we received as christmas gifts. We would hang out in a friends basement,somewhere warm. Sometimes kids with older brothers or sisters had a cooler choice of music.

How about on the frontroom floor ,in front of the only fan, on hot summer nights. Our dad would get the couch, and four of us would fight for a cool spot on the floor. Then our dog would move in, right in front. It was a old box window fan,that my dad put screen over the open side,to make it safe.
