Well think about it for a moment. You had the streetcars running down Halsted street there, with the red brick pavement. Grand at that time, I hope I am correct, probably had trolley buses, with its overhead. You had streetcars running on Milwaukee so just consider the imposing overhead connections of various wires and switches. Then consider the trackage configurations with switches and crossing

The Johan models were notorious for warping. Back in the 1980"s I believe they were re-released under Johan Ex-L models which didn't warp. I actually have a 1/25th scale 1955 Plymouth Johan model, an original which hasn't warped.

I used to go to All Nations on lunch in the late 1960's. Also don't forget Hobbymodels at Devon and Western Avenue. Downtown Hobby was at State and Randolph on the second floor and later moved to the arcade at First National Plaza before moving out to Northwest Highway.

Sort of on point. My first law job was at 54 West Randolph St across from the Daley Center, actually called the Woods Theater Building. Up until the very late 60's, it still had the iron grate open elevators and operators. In fact, the lobby was used in the Warren Beaty movie, Mickey One.

I had the advantage of growing up on Newport in Wrigleville in the 1950's. I was able to ride the red streetcars on Halsted and the Green Hornets on Clark. The Clark cars went downtown on Clark, turned around in the South Loop and went back north on Dearborn, loading at safety islands. They were fast. By the way, the only surviving Green Hornet #4391, is preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum in

I went to Budlong School in the early 60's and graduated in 1963, Last January class. I was a patrol boy so we got hot chocolate on really cold days. I only ever went home for lunch and didn't buy lunch at any cafeteria until High School. There was no airconditioning and I recall one May when it was over 90 and really hot.

Or Sheridan & Devon where the Granada Theater was, or Berwyn and Broadway, where there was a coal yard, served by CTA electric locomotives that ran at night. Or for that matter, that there was a coal yard next to WWrigley Field. Or the Nortown theater on Western. Just a few of many places lost.

I want to say that Clark Equipment was at Balmoral and River Road, I do know that it was due south of the largest hotel, at the time, and on the southwest corner. My dad retired from there in 1985 but I can remember having to go out there in 1967 and dig his car out of the parking lot. I also remember that Clark's original buidling in Chicago was bisected by the Greyhound roller coaster.

Not a station according to Chicago L-I believe it was a substation. Have you ever looked at the west bank of the Chicago River (south) between Jackson & Van Buren. You can still see remnants of the pliling from the drawbridge.
