Home Run Inn was the best in the 1960s. It was so good they had to commercialize it. If you go to 31st Street, it's still the same. If you have it frozen, it's not.

Does anyone remember a bar from the 1950s/60s called the Pirate's Den near Loyola University's lake shore campus? It was on Sheridan Road/Broadway about 2 or 3 blocks south of Devon. Unknown to most patrons, it had a secret barroom in the back that dated back to speakeasy days. Owned by Mary, run by Van.

I worked in several Chicago breweries in the summer of 1960 between my sophomore and junior years of college. Canadian Ace was the pits. They made 40+ different beers there, including Bullfrog, Old Vienna, and dozens more. However, many of them came from the same vats. Their half gallon bottles sold for 50 cents.
