I worked (very, very briefly) and a Germanish Restaurant on State right by and across the street from the Chicago theater. Anyone know what it was? I think it was German. The facade was very unique, if I recall correctly.

We used to shop at "Shop-N-Bag" on 63rd. Don't remember the cross stree, but it was between Cicero and Pulaski. (closer to Cicero)

How about the Green Door Tavern on Orleans? I know it's housed in a building that survived the fire, but I'm not sure it it operated continiously as a tavern.

My dad used to take me to Peoples restaurant, right next to the theater. And there was a little restaurant on Ashland, kinda by the Woolworths, called Cof-E-Break, or something like that...

And there was Gus's at 51st and Damen. And the chinese restaurant on 55th, I think, just off California. They had a koi pond in the lobby. And one on I think, 55th and Kedzie (?) right across from Talman bank..

We were at 5231 S Winchester. From what I can see via google, the apartment is one of the few buildings left on the block. Many are gone. I went to St. Basil, (gone) and Gage Park HS for the first 2 years, til we moved.
