Thank you also for your response. It would be a lot simpler if people in the 19th century didn't make any mistakes, so that looking back at their time could be done more easily and accurately. But I suspect I am making it just as difficult for someone in the 22nd century who may be looking at what I've done in the time I've had.

A relative is shown as living at 134 Johnston Ave in Chicago in 1888. After looking through the street name change information and the 1909 address change info I am a little confused. Johnston is shown as becoming Lyndale, but the address of 134 does not appear in the renumbering system, only 132 and 136 do. Does anyone have an idea as to where this address may now be located?

Has anyone ever heard of an archtiecture firm or company called GROTZ-WAEGELEIN CO. I think they may have had a catalog of homes or home plans. The time period seems to be about 1929 and 1930, but I don't know how far on either side of those dates they may extend.Found that my grandparents home in River GRove was one of theirs. There is a photo of Bancroft School. I googled "Bancroft School Chicago" and one of the first things that came up was a list of what look like Chicago post cards one of which is a great veiw of Bancroft School. I also tried to put an 1895 class photo from the school on this board, but I can't figure out how to do it.

Thanks for your repsonse. Pictures I have show a pretty substantial biuilding. The class photos wee taken outside against the wall of the building. Thouogh they were taken in 1895, if you look at the kids faces, they could have been taken yesterday. Has anyone ever had any luck going to the Chicago Public Schools archives? That is I assume they exist.

Does anyone know whatever happened to the Bacnroft School. It was a CPS School locate NW of North Ave and Western. May have been torn down in the 30s or 20s. Any hint as to why? Family graduated from there around 1900 and have some class pictures from the school.

This is a pretty interesting photo showing how they built the expressway. Did not relaize they excavated the underpass for the Chciago Avenue bridge before they even started to excavate the raod bed for the expressway. In the foreground at lower left you can still see the remanants of a building 's foundation along the southside of Chciago Ave. demolished because it was in the right of way.

According to Sanborn map Vol 6, 1916 sheet 026 the Slovak Lutheran Church and school was at the northwest corner of Chicago and Noble. In the Sanborn map of "Chicago 1905-1951, Vol 6, 1916-June 1950, sheet 026, it was then the "Japanese Church of Jesus Christ". In old aerial photos it was there in the 1962 aerial, but gone in the 1973 photo. Address of this church was 1400 to 14

I believe the school in the background was Washington School. My grandmother lived near here before 1912 and attended that school.
