Lawndale Caboose?

A few times a month I end up drving down California and always at the intersection of 31st, I ponder at the caboose that is in an empty lot there. It's just a standard red caboose, but not very damaged as it's behind a fence.

Does anyone know the history behind it? Why is it there? For how long? Who held the rights to it?

Any info you have would be great! Thanks!

Thanks to google maps, I see what you are talking about.
No idea as to why its there. It seems to have been there for a few years, according to Historic Aerials, since 98.
