Don't know if this would interest most but Wonder if there's an online list of when each one of those were built?

I'm curious when the one on Elston Ave. was constructed?

Probably the late 1950's-early 1960's.

Found a article in the Chicago Tribune announcing the opening of three Secretary of State Drivers facilities in November 1959.

Took my first drivers exam on Diversey around Narragansett in 1950. I believe the Elston facility around Bryn Mawr was originally the Safety Lane where you went to get screwed into getting a safety sticker for your car which was required by Chicago. Didn't last much longer into the 50s. Hated putting $2.00 on the seat in order to pass.

With people moving to area from other states, they are calling DL Facilities "The DMV", as they do in California and other states.

Where I work, I will jokingly say 'You're in IL, not CA'

My dad hated the "fee" for having a safe car. One of the reasons he didn't have a car for many years.
