Can anyone recall their times at Vytautas Grove, adjacent to the south side of St. Casimir's ? It is now Marist High, but it was a beautifully wooded Grove back in the day and you could hear the joy there while burying the loved ones. Thank you for responding.
Yes I remember it very well. My family moved to Alsip in 1956 and Vytautas park was were a few of us used to go to play. It is were we learned how to bowl once we figured out how to load the pins and work those old machines. When we got tired of bowling we would go fishing in one of the two ponds, they were a little closer to Cicero ave. A lot of good time there. Two of use were there one day and saw a group of people standing to the east of the park and went over to see what they where doing, yep 3or4 guys standing there with chrome shovels and people taking pictures. That was the start of Marist and the end of our bowling. We used to go to every picnic they had there too. Free food is free food.
Is there anybody else here from Alsip?
