One clue is the Cadillac dealer across the street. My guess is Madison St in Oak Park near Ridgeland Ave. There was a Caddy dealer there [Foley-Rice] for years, and it looks like it.

The Foley Rice building has one major arch in it's facade, and the building in the photo had three...unless there was some alteration through the years..
"Originally built as a Packard dealership (Hill Motor Sales Co.), it is the last auto dealership on Oak Park’s “Motor Row.” It was identified in 2006 in a Madison Street Architectural Survey as a potential Oak Park Historic Landmark, and is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The building was designed by E.E. Roberts with his son Elmer, who became a partner in his father’s firm in 1924."
Back in the day, Madison in Oak Park used to be THE place to get a deal on a car..and then of course there was Jim Long, who opened a Pontiac dealership there, then moved to Elmhurst and opened a Chevy dealership....
In the late 70's Long started this TV ad campaign which goes down as one of the most annoying in local Chicago TV history.

Man, I had long forgotten those ANNOYING! Long Chevy commercials, Thanks a lot captain. Now I can't get that out of my head! LOL!!

It's probably in Chicago. Probably somewhere on the South Side?????. It isn't W.Madison in Oak Park. Maybe the South Shore area????, Maybe S.Ashland?????.

WooHoo!! I found the answer! See the men's wear store on the right hand side a few doors up from where the woman is standing? That was Saper's Men's Wear located at 2104 E. 71st St. in Chicago. Found an ad in the Chicago Tribune historical Archives from 1949 for the store. In the ad, it claims it is in "the heart of the South Shore".

the crazy weird thing about this old photo is that it's exactly the location that I used to frequent as a kid. My dad bought a bar/cocktail lounge at 71st a bit south of Jeffrey, which would have been right around the corner from where this photo was taken.
you can't see it in the photo, but the IC Commuter Electric RR is running down the middle of 71st st. the IC was an alternative, back in the day, for the more upscale traveling from the Loop to Hyde Park and beyond. The electric RR was pretty hi-tech back in the day, quick and clean, quiet.
I vividly remember the sight of that train, and the station @ 71st and Jeffrey. At the time, (early 60's) it was a pretty upscale Jewish neighborhood, (you can see from the old photo that they were selling Cadillacs in that area!) from what I recall. Dad bought the cocktail lounge because it was a destination for commuters from the city, just getting off the train and looking for a nightcap. Lots of attorneys, and other interesting characters, and husbands cheating on their wives and vice versa. It was a goldmine for a while, but by the mid 60's, the neighborhood turned and the bar went belly up
I've been searching for years for any info on the old place...it was called the Boulevard Room...(the name a ripoff of the old Boulevard Room @ the Conrad Hilton)..the place had been around for years before Dad bought it...I'm gonna say the address was 7104 S Jeffrey.

In 1958, there was a "Brittany Limited" a clothing store located at 7104.

thanks for checking on that...I'm obviously off on the address...I'll have to see if can dig up more info...
I pretty much can narrow the address down to somewhere between 71st and 71st Place on South Jeffrey....even numbered addresses
