Damen Avenue Bridge pumping station ???

Just next to the Damen Avenue Bridge there is an old building with a smokestack. I was wondering what it was and when it was built? There is a pic [url=http://www.chicagoimagegate.com/Logan-Square/LoganSquare.htm]here.[/url] I always assumed it was a pumping station but have been unable to find any information about it.

I believe you are referring to the power plant/boiler house connected to the CHA Lathrop Homes, which were built in 1937 or 1938 (or so).
