Davidson's Honey cake

Davidson's was a small chain of bakeries and they had a store on Randolph between State and Wabash. They had the best honey cake! I've been trying to duplicate the taste and texture (dark, moist) for years. Haven't been able to. Anyone remember? Have a recipe or a way to contact the descendants of the owners? Thanks, From a Southsider.

And while you're searching your old recipes...

How about one for A&P's Spanish Bar (oh, so good).

Thanks.

Regarding Davidson's - this Tribune story from 2012 has the name of a grandson of the owners:

Google "a&p spanish bar" and you get lots of recipes.

--rj, I remember a Davidson's on Thorndale and one on Granville. I don't really recall one on Devon. Do your remember where it was at approximately?
