In 1953, my family and I lived for a short while in the washington Pine apartments (I think there were 2 of them, Wash Pine East and Wash Pine West). Anyone know where they were at exactly (I think it was somewhere near Austin) and whether they are still standing?

Thanks

One would assume that they were at the intersection of Washington and Pine. (5500w?)
There are a couple of large apartment blocks on that corner, including the "Austin Towers"

I drive down Washington every day on my way to work. I don't see any buildings marked Washington Park East or West. There were some '60 era ghetto type apartments along Washington that were torn down a few years ago. It's quite possible that there were buildings there prior to those apartments.

There are also some buildings marked "Douglas Park" East & Eest(I think) farther east but I will have to check out the cross street.
