40th Ave to Crawford to Pulaski change dates?

In another thread about TB Sanitarium, FC member "shekaago" posted "In The Directory of The Public Schools of the City of Chicago 1905 - 1906 ... it lists Belding Branch 2 located at "N. Fortieth av., 1/4 block south of Peterson av."

So, Pulaski was called Crawford for shorter time then it seems. If in 1905 was still 40th, when did Crawford come in? And when did change to Pulaski, in the 1930s?

There was such resistance to changing to Pulaski, probably since the old timers just gotten used to switch from 40th.

Below is a link to a page on the "Chicagology" site which covers some of Chicago's street name changes. It seems that Crawford Avenue changed to 40th Avenue then back to Crawford and then to Pulaski Road.

Crawford Ave. was changed to Pulaski Road by ordinance passed 12 Dec. 1933, Council Journal pp. 1271-72

I would just add a note to this discussion about the street name battles involving this one street. As Pulaski Road crosses the city line into Lincolnwood north of Devon Avenue it returns to Crawford Avenue and continues with that name through Skokie and Evanston until it ends just north of Central Avenue in Evanston. Whatever motivated the folks in Chicago to go back and forth with name changes never reached our neighbors to the North.

Southern burbs have changed 4000 w to Pulaski, though, maybe since there are more Polish-Americans living there?
