You're right; I looked at the red-light district film again, did some searching and found that both the Follies (:55) and the Rialto (1:12) were indeed on State Street. And I also noticed the ominous 17th century quote on the sign at 1:46!
Update: I found a photo of what I think is the Follies, looking south on State Street:

I believe the Rush St at dusk postcard was 1968, Not 1963.

Good call..."the Producers" (posted on the Carnegie Theatre marquee in the background) was released in 1968

The Jazz Showcase was in both the basement and eventually upstairs in the Happy Medium. I saw Kenny Burrell, The Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Orchestra and even The Maynard Ferguson Orchestra there in the 70's.
Next door the Pancake House....I think it was called Mannys... Somebody [b]STREAKED[/b] thru one time about 3 am. Yes.. I'm dating myself. It was the 70's.
Barbara Streisand got her start at Mr Kellys.
I saw The Buddy Rich Big Band at Mr Kellys.
[b]1970's prices..[/b]
$35 per person... plus 2 drinks... for a [b]45[/b] minute set.
You left or got charged again for another set ! ! !

Wow ... I've lived down "on Rush Street" for the past 35 years, and these pics are quite the trip down memory lane! I even saw glimpses of the old Louie's Cantonese Cafe sign (the dragon on the neon is poking out under a few other things there)!
I was just showing my daughter these, and she was amazed at how our now-staid & über-gentrified neighborhood used to look like Las Vegas.
There used to be an awesome mural of the Rush St. neon over at the Clark & Division Jewel, which, unfortunately, was not "rescuable" when they redecorated (I take it that I wasn't the only one to ask if it would be available).

I finally saw this last night; I was also entertained that a place I'd just been two days before, the Oriental Institute was in the movie (early on, the big black stone bull, etc)! It was really great to see the city at that time, the demo for what looked like UIC etc, the hyper modern interior to the tudor house, etc.

Any known era magazines\articles with this club mentioned? Or anyone that used to work there?? Wonder if any of the "Adorable" would remember a lady that worked there in the late 50's to early 60's?? Any connections there?
