Here's a PDF describing the proposed New ERA Trail along the old Pennsylvania RR Connecting Line in Englewood. http://www.openlands.org/filebin/images/plans_reports/Community_Greening_Projects_New_ERA_Trail_Community_Vision_P.pdf Now that the Norfolk Southern container yard expansion deal is done, I think (hope) we'll start seeing work done here. Next lets home for a similar project with the B&OCT's Altenheim Subdivision.

I scanned through the brochure and my first thought is who will pick up the tab for such a huge undertaking? I didn't see any mention of benefactors or city/state/federal funding, although I may have missed it. Of definite concern would be safety. Mentioned are city services, security stations and police presence, all of which are already in dire straits. There are currently not enough police officers on the streets, let alone the funding to provide for more. I'd like to see a project like this too, but it sure looks to be pie-in-the-sky. Nice brochure though.
