I remember going to Wooded Island in Jackson Park with my father just before World War Two. In the middle of the island was a beautiful Japanese Tea House. A person could go in there and be srved tea by Geisha girls with their hair done up and colorful robes. You could see them moving sbout pouring tea.Soon after the War broke out,it was burned to the ground. Another time he took me to a large apartment building with a large iron fence around it. I believe that it might have been in the Kenwood neighborhood. There was a guard at the gate and Japanese people were lined up to be checked in. You see,he said, "They let them go to work during the day,but they have to check in at night."Such is the way of War. TomC
