This is more of a curiosity for me, but I was exploring along the Elston/Goose Island corridor and came across a building at Wabansia & Besly with a great stylized "S" emblem over the old entrance. I've searched through the Sanborn Maps and discovered that this was the "Elston Branch" of the Schoenhofen Brewery. Given that you guys (and others) have written a lot on the south side complex, I thought someone may be interested that a north side building is still standing (for now).
For reference, it is the Sanborn volume #5 (1914) for Chicago, sheet 52. It stands just west of Elston, east of Ashland (now east of 90/94) facing south on Wabansia.
It was too dark for a photo today, so hopefully next week I'll be back and can post something to the Forgotten Chicago Flikr pool.
