I remember Roseland in it's prime.

If you couldn't find it on Michigan Avenue, or nearby, you probably didn't need it.

Kresge's and Woolworth's dime stores. Gately's Peoples' Store, With their attached parking garage. Penney's & Three Sisters. Toni's Restaurant. Walgreens, and medical offices above it. Cousin's & Van Sipma's jewelers. South End Savings. A & P. The Home Store. Pullman Library down the hill. Palmer Park, and evening concerts in the summer. White Castle & the YMCA. Much more to the north of 111th St, but we didn't go there as much, although there was a beauty school there where they let me put rollers in the "heads" while my mother got her hair done.

There's so much to remember, must be getting old.

Enjoy your day.

On an interesting note, today on my weekly browse through the local Goodwill, I picked up a copy of the History of Woolworth's.

Another good southside shopping district was 63rd Street from Pulaski to Halsted. Halsted had everything, shows, food, clothes, sports stores, etc. I wonder how it looks now.
