I worked at the cafeteria at Western Electric (29th & Cicero?)around 1982 to 1986. It was a little city in of itself. I have a lot of great memories from there.
I started working at 26th Street in 1966 on the sixth floor. I began as a typist. The floors were wood and there was no air conditioning. Once an hour a designated person would blow a whistle and other assigned people would pull the cords which opened the windows. I believe they were opened for one minute. When we heard the whistle we knew to hold down all our papers to keep them from blowing off of our desks.

I worked there 64-85 then went to Omaha, NE
Boy what stories I could tell, great place to work.
Remember the Hello Charlie Contest each year, that was something.
Does anyone know of a guy that worked at the plant at Cicero and Cermak that went by the nickname "Paco"?. I am searching for my birth father and this is all I have to go on. I know its a long shot given the amount of employees..
