Just now I googled "gertie's ice cream" and got addresses of several Gertie's/Lindy's that are still in business. The ice cream menu came up and it sounds wonderful.

Ron K as far as I know there was no Gerties in Brighten Park.
There was however an Icecream shop on the corner of 51St Street and Damen Ave. named
Gus's Icecream and soda parlor. Great hand dipped chocolates, Green River malts and shakes. and super hot fudge sundaes.

I grew up in Brighton Park and indeed there was a Gertie's on Archer Ave., a few doors west of the Brighton Theater. I had eaten there many times. It was one of those places that had a juke box selector at each table.

Dennis Farina was a beat cop in the 9th district and kept his childhood home on 24th and Oakley even after he was a big star.

I used to see him in the ER at Mt. Sinai hospital all the time.

And Gerties was the best! So many memories...

I also miss Bishops chili on 18th and damen..
